Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate in the classroom! I love a good themed party with activities and treats that all tie in together. I usually do a whole witches' brew theme, but I though a fun twist on that would be with the story, Bone Soup by Cambria Evans. It's the Halloween version of the folktale, Stone Soup. Throughout the week of Halloween, you can use that story as your interactive read aloud, which will then build up to your Halloween party! I do have a resource for interactive read aloud lessons for that story, which you can find HERE. I just love that you can tie in your standards while still having lots of Halloween fun! Let's take a look today at what this amazing Classroom Halloween Party consists of!

Printable Halloween party decorations are included that you can hang on your boards for the week. There is a Happy Halloween Banner and some signs that have different ingredients from Bone Soup. You could also mix in some spider webs and spiders, along with any other Halloween decor you have for a fun mini-room transformation.
Once it's time for the party, here is a party agenda to help keep you on track. I like to also share this with students so that they know what fun is to come! You do not have to do all of these activities. It just depends on the amount of time you are given by admin. The activities are all designed to be appropriate for social distancing. I typically like to do stations for a party, but I know that will not work this year, so each of these are completed individually.
Families love to help out with classroom parties by donating items. I made a family letter that you can send home a couple of weeks before the party with items needed for the treats, Bone Soup snack mix and a Slimy Sludge drink.
For the actual party activities, BINGO is always a class favorite! There are three different BINGO boards and printable calling cards. You could be the caller or ask a student to do it while you get the food items set up. I printed these on colored cardstock so that they can be used again the following year.
Step-by-step directed drawing instructions are included. I like to do directed drawings on large poster paper. I included some printable headers if you choose to do that to make it even cuter. The directed drawing is of Finnigin, the main character. He looks a little creepy, but he is a sweet and fun little character in the story.
If students hand out treats to one another, they will need something to put what they collect inside to take home. I bought these gift bags on Amazon (you can split these with your team), and students make a Bone Soup decoration for the outside. I printed the parts on construction paper, but you could also print them on white paper and let students color them if you needed something extra for them to do.
Now for the best part, the food! This snack is perfect for time of social distancing since everything will be individualized. Below are the printable signs that you can put on your table. There are recipes and a fun poem from the book.
You as the teacher will mix up the concoctions! (Make sure you are wearing a mask and gloves while doing this.) I mix up the bone soup in this large black bowl I found at Walmart, or you could use a cauldron that you can find at many stores during Halloween. You will pour in the snack mix ingredients and while stirring, students can recite the poem. If you want to be real extra, wear a witch's hat! Ha!
I put the snack mix in plastic bags, so that they can take the extras home. The slimy sludge drink can be poured in individual cups or you can do a punch bowl, but I think just mixing it in the cups first is easier.
I like to give my students a little treat, so I made these gift tags that also go with the theme. You can find these skeletons everywhere right now. These are from Target, but I have also seen them on Amazon. I just used tape to attach them to the card.
