Welcome to my classroom! I have finally almost finished redecorating. It took me a total of two and a half days moving like a mad woman, but it paid off. I know that last year I totally changed my color scheme, but I just wasn't feeling it. It was too many different colors and just not soothing to the eye. Yellow is my favorite color and just makes me happy! And I love how the black really grounds everything. Black also does not show dirt and the black fabric does not fade, so it can stay up for a long time.
These may be my favorite part of the whole room. A sweet grandparent at our school made these chair pockets for me. She is super talented and I couldn't have bought any like this and made this well anywhere else. I love that they have two pockets! It's hard to tell from the picture but the chevron part is an extra pocket.
I have been in this same room for five years now, and I don't know why I never thought to move my desk here. It seems to always be in the way. I even considered getting rid of it but I decided to put it in the front corner beside my Smart board and it really works. My carpet is there and it's the perfect size for my computer, Elmo, and more.
I ordered the polka dot fabric from fabric.com and got a really great deal. I always get my fabric from them; they seem to have the best prices and free shipping if you spend more than $35. The chair is from Ikea.
I got these at Target and cut out the letters with my Silhouette Cameo.
My little guided reading area is at the front of the room. I keep my supplies in the drawers and in the wire shelf beside it. I will put important anchor charts behind me on the board.
My classroom library is in the front corner of the room. I got the carpet at Walmart on the cheap! I am looking for a cute basket to put the little reading buddies in so ignore the crate. I need to get another bean bag, too. On top of the guided reading level shelf is where I am going to keep student data notebooks, so I will move the flowers and globe somewhere else.
Here is a side view of the library. I will hang ELA anchor charts in that area above the library. The black fabric is just an old curtain panel. The lamp is also from Ikea.
I have many more parts of my room to post, but my camera battery went dead in the middle of taking these. I'll be back soon with more!
Love your classroom theme! So cute!

ReplyDeleteRambling About Reading
I went to my classroom yesterday and stared at the pile of boxes and stacked furnature for 20 minutes. Sigh. I wish I had a magic wand...
