Building Relationships with Positive Notes: Cupid Notes

Happy February!  Your students will love receiving these fun Cupid Notes during this Valentine season.  I started these years ago with my second graders and recently gave the resource a huge update.  These positive student notes are used to motivate and encourage your students.  Families and parents will also love seeing their children being recognized in a positive way.  In this post, I will share how I use them as a form of positive reinforcement and how I get parents involved.

Cupid Notes are just positive notes that recognize a specific behavior or trait that a student exhibits.  In this new update, I gave the whole resource a new postal theme, because students LOVE receiving mail.  I have included mini notes and full size page notes, as well as black and white versions that you can print on Astrobrights paper.

I grabbed these felt Valentine envelopes a few years ago in the Target Dollar Spot.  Any full size envelope would work for Cupid Note storage.  The full size notes are for photos.  I printed and laminated those for photos with students.  I award the child with one of the notes, such as "Thank you for being a kind friend!"  I then take their photo with the sign and send the photo to their family on Class Dojo.  I might send a short message to the family explaining why they received the note.  This is amazing for building those positive relationships with students and their families!

Another way to use the notes is by delivering it like mail to the students.  I printed these envelope covers and laminated them to these mini envelopes.  You can use dry erase markers to write the students' names, since these will get used again.

Inside the envelope, I put their Cupid Note.  I have included lots of options!

I also like to stick a little treat or gift inside.  I got this putty at Target in their Valentine's Day section.  They had lots a cute, inexpensive options!  I would also make sure that each student in your class eventually receives a Cupid's Note, so get enough treats for all students.  These are meant to encourage all of your students and to highlight their strengths!

Before I leave for the day, I choose a few students to receive a note.  I leave the mail on their desks for them to see when they come in the next morning.  They LOVE receiving these Cupid Notes, and it encourage those who haven't received one yet to really step up their game!

They get to keep the note and the treat, but I have them return the envelope so that I can use those again.  I have a sign that you can attach to where you want them to return the notes, such as a basket or bin.

I am telling you, you students will be over the moon to receive these Cupid's Notes!  They truly do love to please and love to be recognized for their positive efforts.  Let me know if you decide to use these!  Thank you, as always, for stopping by!
