My students absolutely LOVE my Classroom Management Games! I reached out to you all to find out what behaviors do you want to work on in October and November. You gave me so many great ideas, so I included three extra games in this resource. These games target specific behaviors while positively reinforcing students meeting your expectations. The games are played as a whole group and end with some sort of reward. The goal is for your students to correct the behavior and move from extrinsic motivation to intrinsic. We know that our little ones often times need something to work towards at first, so these games do just that.
I print the games on cardstock and laminate them. I use Velcro dots to attach the game pieces to the game boards. Let's take a look at each of the games for October and November.
Your
focus behavior for this game will be having students helping you or helping others throughout
the day, which also includes taking care of and cleaning up the classroom. When students exhibit that positive behavior,
they earn a ghost to go in the haunted house.
Their house will continue to be filled throughout the day. They have to fill the house by the end of the
day. Once the house is full, they earn a
prize. If they do not fill it by the end
of the day,
they have to start over the next day.
You
will focus on smooth, quiet, and quick transitions with this tic tac
toe game. When students
exhibit
a smooth transition, they earn a tic tac
toe piece. If it’s not smooth, the
teacher earns a tic tac
toe piece. When students get three in a
row, they earn a reward.
Blurt BUMP is a game that we always come back to! When
students raise their hand rather than blurting, they earn a game piece to place
on the game board. When they are not
meeting expectations, the teacher earns a game piece to place on the game
board. Students can bump you off your
spot if they wish. The first with four
in a row wins! Bump is a favorite in my
class!
Spooks vs. Teacher is a students vs.
teacher behavior whole group behavior management tool. Reward students for positive behaviors by
giving the spooks’ side of the board a game piece. For negative behaviors, the teacher side
earns a game piece. At the end of the
day or class period, the spooks’ side must exceed the teacher side for a reward!
Up next are my November games. I should also mention that I include a list of reward ideas that are almost all free and easy to implement. The reward should not be a burden on you, so I make sure to keep it simple.
Your
focus behavior will be on smooth, quick, and quiet transitions. When students exhibit that positive behavior,
they earn a piece of the pie. Their pie
will continue to be filled throughout the day.
They have to fill the pie by the end of the day. Once the pie is full, they earn a prize. If they do not fill it by the end of the day,
they have to start over the next day.
Your
focus behavior will be on good manners with this game.
When students exhibit that positive behavior, they earn a food item to
place on the Thanksgiving table. Their
table will continue to be set throughout the day. They have to fill the entire table by the end
of the day. Once the table is set, they
earn a prize. If they do not set it by
the end of the day,
they have to start over the next day.
You
will focus on tattling with this game.
When students problem
solve using their words, they earn a tic tac
toe piece. If they tattle, the teacher
earns a tic tac
toe piece. When students get three in a
row, they earn a prize.
When
students are showing goodness or kindness, they earn a game piece to place on
the game board. When they are not
meeting expectations, the teacher earns a game piece to place on the game
board. Students can bump you off your
spot if they wish. The first with four
in a row wins! This one is great for encouraging kindness!
Turkeys vs. Teacher is a students vs.
teacher behavior whole group behavior management tool. Reward students for positive behaviors by
giving the turkey side of the board a game piece. For negative behaviors, the teacher side
earns a game piece. At the end of the
day or class period, the turkey side must exceed the teacher side for a reward!
These games have made all the difference with my class! But I have to say that in order for them to work, it's up to you, the teacher, to keep them going. You do have to keep reminding them of the game and make it competitive. Stay positive and be an encourager. You will begin to see your students mirroring those same qualities.
You can click any of the pics from the post to check out the resource. I would love to hear how it goes in your classroom! Please feel free to tag me on Instagram to share how they are going!
These are awesome. Do you have any for December?
