Hello teacher friends!  So, I am now sold on Whole Brain Teaching.  Thank you so much for your comments!  I can't wait to try it out and hopefully, get my school on board.   As some of you know, we use Treasures as our basal reader.  I make word work packets each week to accompany the phonemic rule that week.  The first week, we will be reviewing short vowels.  I have that word work packet posted in my TPT store if you're interested.  Just click {HERE} to check it out. I also made these little table labels.  You can grab them {HERE} for free!  Just a small thank you for following this blog.  The smaller ones are for supply caddies and the larger one is to hang from the ceiling if your fire marshall permits.  ;)  {Mine does not. :(}  They are both in the same file. Graphics and fonts by: Lilly Bimble Jessica Weible Kevin and Amanda Free Scrapbook Fonts I also uploaded a story structure packet.  It's very similar to my author's p...
So, while browsing around on Pinterest the other day, I stumbled upon this AMAZING pin.   I have heard of whole brain teaching, but I didn't know a whole lot about it.  This teacher incorporates some pretty wonderful strategies in her lessons.  It is all about engaging students in as many ways as possible.  I watched all of this teacher's videos and was very impressed!  I encourage you all to check it out if you're like me and was not real familiar with it.   I also went on the website, which was very informative.  You can create a free account and get some free eBooks about whole brain teaching.  Click *{HERE}* to go to the site.   If you use whole brain teaching in your classroom, let me know how you feel about it.  I think I am going to incorporate it this year. I already use some of those strategies, but I love how well managed these classes are!  Happy whole brain teaching!!!...
I hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am!  I love it!  We have our vacation booked.  We are going to Charleston and Isle of Palms.  We can't wait!  I need the beach!!!! I had a groupon to use, so I went to my local teacher supply store.  Here is what I picked up.   I can't wait to put it up!  I think I am going to construct some type of tree to put Stan the owl in with the tissue paper flowers and attaching the standards somehow.  We'll see. ???? I also got a bunch of Dollar Tree stuff.  I need to stay away from that place. I have posted Common Core posters with the owl theme in my TPT store for 3rd grade .  I am now working on them for k and first.  Tennessee has not adopted common core for science and social studies; therefore, those subjects are not included.  If you teach in Tennessee, I do have the 2nd grade science and social studies posted for sale in my TPT store . So, I decided to create some blank templates for you all t...
We actually had our very last day of school last Friday.  I have been saving our last weeks' activities to share with you until we were officially out.  I don't know what happened, but I had a complete blogger's block those last two weeks!  So sorry!  But I have a freebie to make it up to you below. During one of those last weeks, we had so much fun with Cara's Camping Capers unit .  We just LOVED it!  Here are our little stinky skunks: Our graph: I love the story Dear Deer.  Here are the deer to go along with it: I definitely recommend purchasing this one!  So many cute, fun, and engaging activities!  At the end of the week, Rayann brought her indoor campfire and we told campfire tales around it.  We even made smores in the toaster oven!  Yum! We also had a pirate week.  I am working on finishing up my pirate literacy unit.  I will post it ASAP!  Until then, I am thinking all about my classroom next year.  I am going to do an owl the...
