STAN and the Common Core STANdards

Holly has already introduced y'all to our friend STAN.  STAN is a very wise owl who teaches our students the common core STANdards!  When Holly told me about it, I thought it sounded so cute!  Y'all, I cannot believe what a difference he has made in my classroom.  Students are actually interested in and excited about the STANDARDS!  I have never seen anything like it!  And STAN is everywhere!  We put him in our SMART board lessons, and refer to the standards constantly.  In second grade, we have seen so much growth with these little ones, and I know STAN has been a huge part of it.  I am telling you, HE.WORKS!!!  Our principal loves STAN, too!  She has made several comments about how great he is!

This is her display of her standards.  She used a large space, but you could easily condense it.  She bought her standards from someone else on TPT before I created these with STAN.  I have only created them for second grade so far.  If anyone is interested in getting them for their grade level, please leave a comment or e-mail me.  If there is enough interest, I will make them for the other grade levels.

I have created a packet, STAN's Common Core Standards for Second Grade, to go along with STAN for sale on TPT.  I just opened my store!  I am so excited!  I only have standards for math and reading so far, since that is all Tennessee is piloting right now for k-2.  It includes these posters: 

It also includes "I can" statements you can print on cardstock and laminate.  The owls are color-coded by subjects to help in organizing each and matching the cards with the posters.  Here are a few examples:
